Kiddy cricket mascot visits T&T school

BELMONT, TRINIDAD - Chirpy, the Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket Mascot, recently visited students from the Belmont Government School, the winners of the recent Kiddy Cricket Festival.

Chirpy, who was introduced to the regional public during the recent Digicel Home Series against Australia, was accompanied by national Under-19 cricketer Jessie Bouton.

The visit took place after the April 22-26 Second Test match at the Queen’s Park Oval, Woodbrook.

During the Australia series, Chirpy joined the children during their half-time skills display on the field.

As the new face for the Kiddy Cricket programme, he replaces the retired mascot Clarence the Crab.

And the Belmont students topped their school district when they played a series of inter-school zonal matches in the 2012 Kiddy Cricket Festival.
