Johnson to lead Georgetown in Guyana Independence Cup T20

GEORGETOWN, GUYANA - National middle-order batsman and vice-captain Leon Johnson have been tasked with the job of leading Georgetown’s charge for supremacy when the second annual Berbice Cricket Board/Berbice Chamber of Commerce and Industry Independence T20 Cup bowls off at the Albion Community Centre ground next Sunday.

Also named in the Georgetown lineup by the selection committee of the Georgetown Cricket Association are Guyana and West Indies T20 all-rounder Christopher Barnwell and his national and Demerara Cricket Club teammates Derwin Christian, Andrew Lyght Jr, Paul Wintz and Trevon Griffith.

Pugnacious opener Robin Bacchus and promising off-spinning all-rounder Shaquille Williams are also included in the team who will be challenging Universal DVD Berbice Titans, BK International East Coast Jaguars and Karibee Rice Berbice Second XI for the top prize $400 000 and trophy.

The full team reads: Leon Johnson, Trevon Griffith, Andrew Lyght Jr, Robin Bacchus, Shaquille Williams, Christopher Barnwell, Troy Gonsalves, Chandrapaul Hemraj, Chien Gittens, Paul Wintz, Terrence Forde, Seon Daniels, Jason Heyliger, Keon Morris and Derwin Christian.
