Nash eyes another big Warner Park score

Basseterre, St Kitts– The West Indies arrived in St Kitts on Tuesday evening and hit the field Wednesday morning for a full training session as they prepare for the Second Digicel Test against Pakistan.

The Windies looked a very confident unit as they went through their paces at Warner Park. The home boys are buoyed by the hard-fought 40-run win in the First Digicel Test at the Guyana National Stadium.

Sir Hilary says 'don' comments misunderstood

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – UWI Cave Hill principal Sir Hilary Beckles has defended his comments characterizing Chris Gayle as a “don”, contending he was merely outlining a public perception that existed.

Sir Hilary was slammed by the West Indies Players Union over the comments, with the players union calling for his resignation as a West Indies Cricket Board director and for UWI to launch an investigation.

WICB expresses confidence in medical personnel and injury management processes

St John’s, Antigua– Following widely reported public comments from Chris Gayle and Jerome Taylor pertaining to injuries sustained by them and their treatment and care the WICB reviewed all systems and protocols pertaining to injury management of players.

Following the internal review the WICB is satisfied that its medical personnel acted with the highest levels of professionalism and integrity in the treatment and care offered to Chris and Jerome.

Georgetown, Guyana– West Indies Vice Captain Brendan Nash is quietly confident of personal and team success as the Windies continue to prepare for the Digicel Test Series against Pakistan. Speaking on Tuesday, the left-hander said the build-up was “going really well” ahead of the start of the First Digicel Test at the Guyana National Stadium.

First ball is 10 am (9 am Jamaica Time)

Gayle makes himself unavailable for Pakistan Series

St John’s, Antigua – Opening batsman Chris Gayle has informed the Board that he will not make himself available to play in the Pakistan leg of the Digicel Series and that he prefers to play in the Indian Premier League instead.

Gayle informed the WICB that he had received an offer to participate in the IPL and applied to the WICB for a No Objection Certificate to cover the entire duration of the IPL which clashes with the Pakistan leg of the Digicel Series.
