Russell was brilliant - Stuart Williams

North Sound, Antigua – West Indies A Team Assistant Coach and former West Indies opening batsman Stuart Williams has hailed Andre Russell’s century as an innings of brilliance.

“It was a brilliant innings by Russell, he mixed aggression with defence, he ran well between the wickets and he built partnerships which brought us back into the game,” said the 42 year old who featured in 31 Tests and 57 One Day Internationals.

Russell played to strengths

North Sound, Antigua – All rounder Andre Russell said that he merely played to his strengths in getting an impressive maiden hundred for the West Indies A Team in their opening Digicel ‘Test’ against Bangladesh A at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Grounds.

“It was a pretty decent wicket to bat on so as long as you get in you just have to bat long, be patient and wait on the balls which allow you to play your shots and that’s what I did,” a beaming Russell said at the end of the day’s play.

Playing for Windies helped Hyatt

North Sound, Antigua – Jamaican batsman Danza Hyatt said that playing for the West Indies senior team has improved his confidence and has helped him to progress as a batsman.

“Being around the experienced guys and playing international cricket has helped me for sure,” said Hyatt who has appeared in five One Day Internationals and four Twenty20 Internationals.

He said his time on the international stage has allowed him to pick up good form.

“I think I’m in good nick so I have to capitalize and I need to continue to get the big scores,” Hyatt reasoned.
