Windies bat first in warm-up vs Kenya

Colombo, Sri Lanka – The West Indies were asked to bat first after Kenya won the toss in their first official warm-up match ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup.

West Indies will be without powerhitters Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard for this match, being played at the refurbished R Premadsaa Stadium in the inner city community of Khettarama. Also on the bench are left-arm spinner Sulieman Benn and pacer Ravi Rampaul.

Colombo, Sri Lanka – West Indies will look to start their preparations for the ICC Cricket World Cup with a good performance when they face Kenya in an official warm-up match on Saturday. First ball is 9.30 am (12 midnight Eastern Caribbean Time/11 pm Friday Jamaica Time).

VC Bravo ready to step up for 2nd CWC

Colombo, Sri Lanka – Dwayne Bravo has been appointed Vice Captain of the West Indies team for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup and the world-rated allrounder is looking to make a significant contribution to the side’s success.

The 27-year-old will be playing in his second World Cup and as one of the senior players in the side he plans to lead from the front and help drive the team’s success.

Gayle wants to be a World Cup hero

Colombo, Sri Lanka – Chris Gayle on Thursday announced that his ultimate goal is to get his hands on the World Cup trophy.

The big left-hander, rated as one of the most destructive batsmen of all time, said he has a desire to become a world champion and bring back glory to West Indies cricket during the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup.
