Hyatt 92 as Windies A 202/6
North Sound, Antigua – Danza Hyatt was cruelly run out eight runs short what would have been a well deserved century as West Indies A moved to 202 for 6 at tea on the opening day of the First Digicel Test against Bangladesh at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Grounds.
Hyatt resumed after lunch on 54 and played more sedately to move to 92 before he perished via the run out route to bring an end to the 58 run partnership he established with fellow Jamaican Andre Russell who was on 49 not out at the break. The pair rebuilt the Windies A innings after they lost three wickets shortly after lunch.
Windies A added 102 runs in the session for the loss of 4 wicket as the Bangladeshis fought back after the mid day meal.
The West Indies A batsmen contributed to the fight back by gifting their wickets away. First to go after lunch was Nkrumah Bonner who was caught and bowled by Mohammed Sohrawordi for 43. He was quickly followed by Jonathan Carter who failed to score and home boy Devon Thomas who made just 2.
Hyatt’s 92 consumed 158 balls and he struck 11 fours and a pair of sixes as he and Bonner repaired the early damage with a 115 run partnership.
Russell has so far faced 54 balls and has belted seven fours and two sixes. Carlos Brathwaite is the other not out batsman on 1.
Robiul Islam has taken 2 for 19 while Sohrawordi has 2 for 56 from 21 overs.
