HPC's Hosein tops bowling averages

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – Akeal Hosein has topped the bowling averages in the recently concluded Barbados Cricket Association’s Elite Championship.

Sagicor High Performance Centre, was in great form with the ball for Spartan.

The 20-year-old enjoyed a dream debut season with 35 wickets at just 8.54 runs each in four matches before he was sidelined by a wrist injury which required surgery.

He had six successive five-wicket hauls – he also bowled in only six innings – for wha is arguably a record of sorts in the top BCA domestic championship.

His best figures were seven for 48 in the second innings against BDFSP for a match haul of 11 for 81 in the fourth round when he made his debut at Paragon. 

Meanwhile, left-hander Carter, a Barbados and West Indies A Team player, turned out in only three matches but he made his presence felt by scoring 380 runs at an average of 76.00, which bettered his 72.00 last year when he also had the honour of amassing the most runs (648) in seven matches.

Carter's highest score was a whirlwind 160 off 145 balls with 12 sixes and nine fours in the first innings against ICBL Empire in the fifth series at the 3Ws Oval.
