Shiv reflects on his record-breaking 133rd Test

Roseau, Dominica – It was his 133rd Test match, a record making him the most capped West Indian, and Shivnarine Chanderpaul found himself having to bat his team out of trouble. The champion left-hander had done it many times before in his outstanding career, and everyone backed him to deliver another back-to-the-wall performance. Chanderpaul delivered another master class in front the sell-out crowd at Windsor Park, as they came to see the country’s first Test match.

Pakistan Women to tour Caribbean next month

St John’s, Antigua – World rated players Stafanie Taylor, Deandra Dottin and Anisa Mohammed will be back in action for the Windies Women as the Pakistan Women’s team will next month embark on an eight match tour of the Caribbean. The tour will start on August 28 in St Vincent and conclude on September 11 in Guyana. In another first for regional women’s cricket, Guyana will host the inaugural international day/night women’s match in the Caribbean.

Wins for Jamaica, Guyana in Under-15s

Port-of-Spain – Trinidad, CMC – Guyana sneaked a narrow win over Barbados while Jamaica trounced Leeward Islands to storm to the top of the standings, on the final day of the fourth round of matches in the West Indies Cricket Board's Under-15 Championship.

Playing at Honeymoon Park, Guyana came from behind to beat Barbados by 22 runs while Jamaica thrashed the Leewards by 132 runs at Gilbert Park. In the other game, Trinidad and Tobago were held to a draw by Windward Islands, despite a sensational unbeaten century from Jeremy Solozano.

WICB Regional U19 schedule announced

Georgetown, GuyanaDefending 3 Day champions Windward Islands will take on Barbados in the opening round of the WICB Regional Under 19 Tournament in Guyana starting on Monday July 18th.

The other two first round matches are Trinidad & Tobago v Jamaica and hosts Guyana going up against Leeward Islands.

The tournament, in its 44th year was won by the Windward Islands for the second time in 2010 after their initial triumph in 2000 when the tournament was also hosted in Guyana.

Permaul yearns to join lifelong friend Bishoo in Windies colours

Bridgetown, Barbados – Veerasammy Permaul is a big fan of Devendra Bishoo. Permaul has watched his lifelong friend’s elevation to the West Indies team and is thrilled to see the leg-spinner’s excellent performances on the international stage. Now, the soft-spoken Permaul is working overtime to join the amiable Bishoo in the Windies line-up. Permaul, the small left-arm spinner, is a member of the Sagicor High Performance Centre and he recently started his second three-month stint at the base at the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies.
