Fudadin fights but Windwards win Day 2

Georgetown, Guyana - The Windward Islands bowlers all chipped in to lead to Guyana's demise on Day 2 of their Round 3, Regional 4-Day match at Providence Stadium.

However, it was Guyana who had the brighter start to the day. Resuming on 289/6, the Windwards would not get much further as Christopher Barnwell almost single-handedly led their rout.

He picked up two of the last four remaining wickets as the Windwards were bowled out for 307 in their 1st Innings. The visitors only got to add only 19 runs at the start of Day 2. Windwards skipper, Liam Sebastien, who was overnight on 60, failed to add any runs to his score, as Barnwell trapped him Leg Before Wicket.

However, the Windwards had posted a quite competitive first innings score. It was made to look even more competitive when the Windward Islands opening bowlers, Nelon Pascal and Delorn Johnson left the home team reeling on 1/2. It only got worst as Kenroy Peters and Liam Sebastien then both took a wicket each to leave Guyana on 37/4.

It was at this point Guyana captain, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, met Assad Fudadin at the crease and both batsmen went about repairing the innings. They put on 80 runs together with Shivnarine Chanderpaul batting patiently for 26.

Fudadin scored 82 runs from 184 balls, hitting nine fours and a six. However, when Sebastien broke through with the key wicket of Shivnarine Chanderpaul with the score on 117, it led to two more quick wickets for the Windwards.

Fudadin went with the score on 136 and Christopher Barnwell followed without another run being added. Guyana closed Day 2 on 187/7, still trailing the Windwards' first innings score by 120 runs. Wicket-keeper, Bramble is not out on 29 while Davendra Bishoo is with him on 22.

Both men have so far put on 51 runs. Sebastien so far has 2-68. Day 3 starts at 10am Eastern Caribbean Time tomorow.
