Bridgetown, Barbados - Barbados Fire Service beat Psychiatric Hospital by eight wickets in the final of the 2013-14 BCA Sagicor General Shield final at Kensington Oval today.

Chasing 81 for victory in 40 overs, Fire Service made 81 for two off 14.4 overs.

The not out batsmen were Athelbert Brathwaite on 43 and Lonsdale Blake, 22.

Brathwaite faced 42 balls and struck eight fours, while Blake received 22 deliveries and hit two boundaries.

Jason Codrington was run out for one (4-1; 0.3 overs) and Shawn Sergeant, playing across, was leg  before wicket by off-spinner Jamar Willoughby for ten (25-2; 4.3 overs). 

Psychiatric Hospital were bowled out for 80 off 26 overs after winning the toss. 

Veteran Alfred Alleyne topscored with an unbeaten 21 off 48 balls including two fours at No. 8.

Alleyne and Anthony Massiah featured in the best partnership of the innings - 22 for the last wicket. Massiah made six off 36 balls.

The last two wickets added 42.

Experienced fast bowler Brian Shepherd was the leading wicket-taker with four for 34 off eight overs. 

Shepherd's new ball partner, pacer Jared Bernadin, picked up two for 11 off five overs and medium-pacer Athelbert Brathwaite also had two for 11 off three overs.

The innings ended at 1.09 p.m.

Skipper Roger Burrowes was caught at second slip by Blake off Shepherd for nought (1-0; 0.3 overs);  Willoughby was also caught at second slip by Blake off Shepherd for eight (9-2; 2.3 overs); left-hander Selvin Greenidge was bowled off the inside edge by Bernadin for nought (20-3; 5.2 overs); Reco Headley, pulling, was leg before wicket by Shepherd for 11 (20-4; 6.3 overs); Akeem Caddle, driving, was given out caught low to his right by wicket-keeper Ron Phillips off Bernadin for nought (27-5; 8 overs); Gregory Gaskin, driving, was caught at cover by Bernadin off Shepherd for three (29-6; 8.5 overs); Dwayne Wilson was caught by Dale Brathwaite off Athelbert Brathwaite for four (38-7; 11.1 overs); left-hander Kareem Knight was caught at gully by Blake off Athelbert Brathwaite for nought (38-8; 11.2 overs); David Leacock, driving, was caught at deep extra-cover by Bernadin off leg-spinner Larando Best for eight (58-9; 15.5 overs) and Massiah was caught by Best off off-spinner Anthony Bowen (80 all out; 26 overs).

The match ended at 2.48 p.m.
