Ferrier powers Dochfour into semis

Georgetown, Guyana - A dominant all-round performance from former national T20 player Deon Ferrier powered Dochfour to a comprehensive six-wicket win over Perseverance in their final quarter-final match of the inaugural Enmore Community Centre Cricket Club (ECCCC)/Guyana Telephone and Telegraph (GT&T)-sponsored 35-over cricket competition last weekend.
Playing at the Enmore Community Centre ground, Dochfour stormed to victory with nine overs to spare, in the process booking a semi-final date with hosts ECCCC.
Batting first, Perseverance posted what looked like an imposing 183-9 off their 35 overs, with M. Nicholson 54, R. Persaud 29 and D. Solomon 28 being the leading scorers, as Ferrier claimed 4 for 24 for Dochfour, who made light work of their target, reaching 187-4 from 26 overs.
The right-handed Ferrier crowned an amazing day by leading the run-chase with an authoritative 76, with support coming from C. Pellew 39 and T. Gilbert 20, while D. Butts 2 for 36 and O. Ross 1 for 14 were the leading wicket-takers for Perseverance.
Action in the competition will continue on Sunday at the ECC ground with the first semi-final that features Helena and Fairfield, while on November 4 (National Holiday is the date set aside for the second semifinal between Dochfour and ECCCC at the same venue.
The final of the competition, which is being organised by the ECCCC and is aimed at giving clubs from Enmore to Mahaica the much-needed competitive exposure, is tentatively set for November 10 at the Enmore Community Centre ground and all matches will bowl off at 11:00hrs.
The winner of the tournament will receive $30 000 and a trophy, with the runner-up collecting $20,000 and a trophy, while individual prizes will be issued for the Man-of-the-Match in the final, the most runs scored and the most wickets and catches taken respectively.
