DCB to host practice match at Everest today

Georgetown, Guyana - Faced with the task of selecting a strong squad to successfully defend the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)-organised, Pepsi-sponsored Inter-County 50 overs title, the Senior Selection Committee of the Demerara Cricket Board (DCB), has organised a practice match for the 20-man squad at the Everest Cricket Club ground today.

While no captain has been named for today’s encounter, it is expected that the Limacol Caribbean Premier League duo Christopher Barnwell and Steven Jacobs, two players who have been earmarked for the captaincy position of the Demerara team, will lead the two sides.

According to the DCB Chairman of Selectors, Nazimul Drepaul, several other young players will be drafted into the lineup, so as to balance off the two teams for today’s encounter, while, the squad had a brief but intense fielding drills session under coach Orin Bailey at the Demerara Cricket Club ground in sweltering heat yesterday afternoon.

The players who will be joined by some others for today’s match are: Christopher Barnwell, Robin Bacchus, Shemroy Barrington, Trevon Griffith, Rajendra Chandrika, Derwin Christian, Andrew Lyght Jr, Kemol Savory, Zaheer Mohammed, Steven Jacobs, Amir Khan, Paul Wintz, Kellon Carmichael, Andre Stoll, Seon Daniels, Raj Nannan, Shaquille Williams, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Shivgobin Balgobin and Yatesh Dhanpaul.
