Christmas slams hundred in practice match

PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD - Trinidad and Tobago Under-19 batsman Brian Christmas slammed 105 off 108 balls to set up his team’s 65-run victory over the national Under-17 side in a 50-over practice match at the National Cricket Centre, Balmain, Couva yesterday.
Christmas, who played for both the national Under-17 and Under-19 teams in 2012, hit nine fours and a six to help his team reach 228 all out off 47.5 overs.
He shared a 123-run second-wicket partnership with Andy Gobin (40) after opener Jeremy Solozano fell cheaply early in the innings before Gobin was stumped off Varindra Jagrup.
Camillo Carimbocas also chipped in with 28 to help the Under-19s post a competitive total.
Off-spinners Carl Vialva and Jyd Goolie took two wickets each for the Under-17s while left-arm orthodox spinner Bryan Boodram snatched three for 40.
The Under-17s replied with 163 for eight off 50 overs, with Vikash Mohan and Justin Joseph splitting four wickets. Clevon Kalawan top scored for the Under-17s side with 30.
The teams meet again today in another practice match at the same venue bowling off at 10 a.m.
