Shaw Park, Tobago - Trinidad and Tobago skipper Dwayne Bravo called on the fans to come out and support the T&T squad and those who came out to Shaw Park in Tobago yesterday for the home team’s NAGICO Super50 match against the Leeward Islands got a special treat as the T&T players stayed on at the ground after their five-wicket win to sign some autographs for the appreciative crowd.
The Tobago crowd could not get enough of Man-of-the-Match Sunil Narine or skipper Dwayne Bravo throughout the encounter.
Speaking about the turnout, Narine said: “It is much better than we anticipated and I think that it is very good that the fans came out to support Trinidad and Tobago and the cricket.
“Hopefully there will be some more games in Tobago.
“It is very good and it is good for cricket in Tobago and hopefully we will see plenty more (game here),” he added.
Bravo praised Narine’s performance in the game, saying it was key to their victory.
“Well done to Sunil Narine, I think he made the difference,” Bravo said of the spinner who took four for 17 in the win.
Bravo was also appreciative of the commitment Narine displayed to T&T cricket.
“He came off a 27 or 28-hour flight (from South Africa) and came straight to Tobago and first thing this morning (yesterday morning) he delivered for us.
“That is the kind of commitment the international players have. Well done to him and it was also good to see Ravi (Rampaul) among the wickets again. He is a trump card for us,” Bravo said.
Rampaul took four for 20 in the win.
Looking ahead to their final group game against the Combined Campuses and College, Narine assured the fans that T&T will give it their all to try and make it to the semi-finals.
“I think CCC are good competitors and we will not take them for granted. We will give it our heart and soul because it will be like a quarter-final for us,” said Narine.
“We will look to keep striving and getting better as a team,” Bravo added.
T&T face CCC on Sunday at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain.
