Brathwaite misses century but Bim on top

Kingston, Jamaica, CMC – Captain Kraigg Brathwaite missed out on a century as Barbados piled pressure on Jamaica, to set up an interesting last day of their fifth round Regional Four-Day match on Monday.

At the close of the penultimate day of the contest at Sabina Park on Sunday, Barbados were 162 for two in their second innings, already 381 runs ahead.

Brathwaite stroked 91, in an opening stand of 125 with left-hander Omar Phillips who got 48. Phillips faced 120 balls and struck three fours and two sixes before becoming the first wicket to fall.

The right-handed Brathwaite was in sight of his sixth first class hundred when he was caught at the wicket off fast bowler Brian Buchanan. He faced 118 balls and struck eight fours and a six.

Kirk Edwards was on 21 from 24 deliveries at the close, as Barbados searched for quick runs.

Earlier, Jamaica were dismissed for 204 in their first innings after resuming the day at 150 for four.

Nkrumah Bonner extended his 31 to an even 50 before while Carlton Baugh made 20.

Ashley Nurse was leading wicket-taker with four for 63 while Jonathan Carter (2-15) and Carlos Brathwaite (2-23) finished with two wickets apiece.
