Boost for Dottin, Windies in ODI rankings

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – West Indies pinch-hitter Deandra Dottin has jumped five places in the latest International Cricket Council’s Women’s one-day batting rankings released on Monday.

The 21-year-old right-hander is now ranked seventh in the batting following her campaign in the recently concluded Women’s World Cup in India, which yielded 226 runs at an average of 32.28.

Dottin found her touch during the tournament, striking half-centuries against Sri Lanka and Australia in winning performances.

In contrast, prolific opener Stafanie Taylor dropped one place to third despite scoring 314 runs, at an average of 44.85 with a career-best top score of 171.

However, she jumped three places to fourth spot in the bowlers’ rankings, fuelled by her capture of seven wickets with her off-spin, at nearly 30 runs apiece.

Her overall performance allowed her to keep her place at the top of the all-rounders rankings.

West Indies captain Merissa Aguilleira, meanwhile, slipped three places to 18th in the batting rankings while left-arm spinner Shanel Daley rose two spots in the bowlers’ rankings.

India’s Mithali Raj has a clear lead at the top of the batting rankings while England medium pacer Katherine Brunt sits atop the bowling rankings.

In the team rankings, West Indies are now number two in the one-day rankings, having jumped three spots from fifth. The Caribbean side played superbly to reach the final of the World Cup before losing to Australia.
