Port of Spain, Trinidad - Bryan Boodram’s all round effort yesterday led the Central Under-17 zone to a six-wicket win over South in the BG T&T U-17 Interzone cricket tournament, topping group A to advance to the semifinals.

Bowling first, Central reduced South to 111 all out in 36.3 overs, as spin bowler Boodram grabbed 4/24. Spin bowler Emilo Gopaul (2/22) and fast bowler Jarlarnie Seales (2/23) both snatched two wickets. Aaron Sinanan and Daniel Williams showed some fight for South, both scoring 22.

Boodram led the reply, top scoring with 47 to take Central to 112/4 in 19.4 overs. Seales also contributed with the bat, pitching in with an unbeaten 30. Despite the loss, South still qualified for the semifinals as the second placed team in group A.

In group B, the match between East and North was abandoned due to rain. East got to 51/0 after 10.3 overs when rain ended play. Both teams qualified for the semifinals, but the winner of the group is not yet determined.

The semifinals is carded for Thursday.
