Bim, T&T, Windwards all win on Day 2

St Elizabeth, Jamaica - The second and final day of the fourth round of matches in the Regional Under 15 tournament was completed today across three venues in Jamaica.

Here are the details:

AT TREASURE BEACH - Leeward Islands v Barbados

Barbados completed the destruction the Leeward Islands this morning that they looked set to have done yesterday. The Leewards started Day 2 on 37/7 in their second innings, still trailing Barbados’ first innings score of 209/7 by 98 runs, having crashed to 74 all out in the first innings.

Rain could have been the only hero but it never showed up. Instead, with Barbados needing just three wickets to complete victory, Reniel Smith (5-14) and Joshua Bishop (4-22) wrapped the match in the first hour. The Leewards were all out for 64 with Dimitri Adams top-scoring with 25.

Barbados got their campaign back on track with an innings and 71-run victory.

AT STETHS - Guyana v Trinidad & Tobago

Inspired by Emilo Gopaul, Trinidad and Tobago staged a stunning comeback to defeat Guyana. On Day 1, a poor batting collapse saw T&T concede first innings points and in danger of being toppled from the top of the table.

Guyana started the second and final day on 69/4. Gopaul had taken two wickets overnight but left much of his damage for today. If T&T were to force a result, they needed to force a Guyanese batting collapse, and Gopaul provided the aggression the Red Force needed.

He took 6-50 as Guyana were bowled out for 151, leaving T&T needing 164 runs for victory on the final day. T&T started in their chase positively, going about the target in building partnerships. Patient knocks from Keagan Simmons (22) and Saiba Batoosingh (22) provided the stability the innings needed.

However, it was captain Kirstan Kallicharan's 63 from 90 balls that ensured the victory. Kallicharan hit six fours and a six in his knock. Mohamed was the pick of the Guyanese bowlers, finishing with 3-43. The victory means T&T extend their lead at the top by over three points.

AT ALPART - Jamaica v Windward Islands

The Windward Islands put in a commanding performance with the bat in the second innings to defeat Jamaica on the second day to replace Barbados in second place on the standings. Starting Day 2 on 31/1, an overall lead of 64 runs, the batsman set out reducing Jamaica's chance of a comeback.

Patient knocks from Nick Elibox (44) and Denzil James (41) ate time away from the final day while also stretched the Windwards' lead. The Windwards in their second innings were all out for 175, setting Jamaica 209 for victory.

The Jamaicans started solidly with the opening pair of Kirk McKenzie and Richard McIntosh putting on 47 runs. When McIntosh fell for 35 though, it started a slide that almost wouldn't stop. From 47/1, the Jamaicans would fall to 72/5. There was resistance from Dominik Samuels, who played well for his 17 while captain Brad Barnes could only manage 14.

But as the Jamaicans neared triple figures, it all fell down again. From 94/6, the Jamaicans were bowled out for 114, handing the Windwards victory by 96 runs. Johnell Eugene did most of the damage for the Windwards with 4-28.
