Batsmen dominate St Catherine cricket
ST CATHERINE, JAMAICA - Batsmen dominated the scores in the just concluded third round of the St Catherine Jamaica Energy Partners Cricket Competition with half-centuries, as the teams move to secure points for semi-final spots later in the season.
Three bowlers had five-wicket hauls.
Adrian Bartley made a brisk 96 for Old Harbour Cricket Club in their match against GC Foster College. Kemar Marshall of Basement Cricket Club made 94 not out in helping his team beat newcomers Unions Estate.
Interestingly, the points standing after round three show Ewarton CC with 36 points leading in Zone One following a successful appeal they made against newcomers NHT Sports Club, now on 24 points, and who used an ineligible player in their line-up to lose the match.
The NHT Sports Club had initially won the match by 54 runs. The other teams to follow in Zone One are Dela Vega CC on 24, Lakes Pen CC and Correctional Services are both on 12, while Old Harbour Bay sit at the bottom on 0.
Points standing for Zone Two show Old Harbour Cricket Club and Angels CC on 36 points each and are followed by Basement CC on 24, while JUTC and Unions Estate are both on 0.
Third-round scores: Old Harbour CC 248 (Adrian Bartley 96, Ronville Brown 69, Stephan Casey 3-51, Jerraine Williams 3-95), GC Foster 77, Old Harbour won by 171 runs.
Dela Vega CC 195. (Wayne Morgan 42, Junior Stewart 6-71), Lakes Pen 179: (Roshane Bird 43. The veteran Karl Robinson took 5-38 and Antwain Stephens 3-78), Dela Vega CC won by 16 runs.
Unions Estate 138, (Patrick Hutchinson 51, Okieth Broderick 6-24, Colin Buchanan 4-42), Basement 139-2 (Kemar Marshall 94 not out). Basement CC won by eight wickets.
