Barrackpore to face Vishnu in Intercol semis

Trinidad & Tobago Newsday article.

PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD - Giant slayers Barrackpore will do battle against Vishnu Boys in the battle of the Championship teams for a chance to advance to the final of the PowerGen Secondary Schools Cricket League (SSCL) Intercol when they clash in the semi-final at the Balmain cricket ground today.

Barrackpore which finished second to Vishnu which won the championship division, created an upset when they defeated title contenders Trinity East by 18 runs in their quarter-final at the Balmain cricket ground on Friday.

A win for Barrackpore today would also be sweet revenge for their defeat at their hands of Vishnu in the championship league. The teams have both gained promotion and will be featuring in the premiership division next season.

The other semi-final will see defending champions El Dorado East taking on Carapichaima at the National Cricket Centre, Balmain, Couva.

“El Do’ squeezed into the final four by virtue of having a better run rate and finishing higher then Fatima after their match was rained out. El Do which had a disappointing finish in the league will be aiming to retain their title.

“Caps” on the other hand avenged their league defeat, with a nine run win over league champions Hillview in their quarter-final encounter. This will no doubt be a moral booster for the team from Central who had played undefeated until they met with Hillview.
