Fidel takes 5-57 but LI bat deep

North Sound, Antigua – A face-saving century stand between Jahmar Hamilton and Sherwin Peters thwarted a rampant Barbados, as they hauled Leeward Islands back into contention on the first day of their sixth round clash of the WICB First-Class Tournament on Friday.

Hamilton struck an attractive 83 while Peters carved out a responsible 57 to pull the hosts around from a shaky position of 17-3 and guide them to 277 all out at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on Friday.

Nero appointed to Emirates Intl Panel

St John’s, Antigua – The International Cricket Council has approved the West Indies Cricket Board’s recommendations for the Emirates International Panel of ICC Umpires.

Veteran Jamaican umpire Norman Malcolm has been re-appointed while Trinidadian Peter Nero has been appointed to the panel for the first time. Joel Wilson – also from Trinidad – and Barbadian Gregory Brathwaite have been appointed 3rd Umpires on the Emirates International Panel.

Rock bottom prices for Digicel Series tickets

St John’s Antigua– The West Indies Cricket Board has considerably slashed ticket prices for the Digicel Series across the board. The WICB, in an effort to ensure that every fan across the region can attend the games without having to put a burden on their pockets, has ensured that the costs of tickets are extremely affordable.

Tickets for the 2011 Series opener, the Digicel Twenty20 at the Beausejour Cricket Grounds in St Lucia will cost a mere EC$50 (US$18.50) for all stands.

4th Digicel ODI moved to May 2

St John’s, Antigua– The West Indies Cricket Board announces that the Fourth Digicel One Day International between West Indies and Pakistan has been moved from May 1 to May 2.

The venue remains Kensington Oval in Barbados.

The change was made so as to avoid having two major events in Barbados on the same day.
