Barbados bat for final T20 spot
Bridgetown, Barbados – One down with one to go! The final semi-final between hosts, Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago is all set. The hosts won the toss and chose to bat first.
Both teams now vie for a spot to meet Jamaica in the final of the 2012 Caribbean Twenty20. The story of this semi-final is quite similar to the first as Barbados remained unbeaten throughout the group stage of the tournament. The reigning champions, Trinidad and Tobago though, were dealt a severe blow in their first match as the Windward Islands defeated them in a shock upset by 11 runs.
The Red Force responded like true champions with a thumping and record breaking victory over the Leeward Islands. They cruised through the remainder of their group matches, also outclassing rivals Guyana. For the hosts of the second phase of the Caribbean Twenty, they have hardly put a foot wrong in the tournament just yet, and are expected to give Trinidad and Tobago a run for their money.
The Bajans will want to remain unbeaten in the tournament. They had a string of convincing performances during the group stages, none better than a comprehensive 67 run victory over Caribbean counterparts, Jamaica. Both Barbados and T&T will be looking to set up a date with the long time rivals of both countries in tomorrow night’s final.
